People use vape pens to vape CBD oil. Some people vape CBD oil because this is the fastest way to feel the effects of CBD. It can take as little as 15 minutes in order to feel the effects. This is great for people who have anxiety and need immediate relief. However, recent studies about vaping has shown that vaping could be extremely harmful to the body.
Studies That Demonstrate CBD’s Effects on Anxiety
49 studies were looked at in order to see the effects of CBD on healthy individuals and individuals with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The research found that the participants who used CBD experienced less anxiety due to public speaking. Healthy individuals experienced positive effects, but so did individuals diagnose with SAD. The research also found that CBD did not seem to have any effect on the brain that would cause anxiety. CBD was found to be just as effective as taking ipsapirone or diazepam. Ipsapirone has antidepressant effects and helps with anxiety. Diazepam is a medication used to treat seizures, muscle spasms, and anxiety.
In 2019, a study was published in the Permanente Journal. The study looked at CBD’s effects on anxiety and sleep. The individuals involved in the study were considered because they had sleep and anxiety disorders. All of the individuals were evaluated by a mental health professional before being accepted into the study. The participants also continued taking their psychiatric medications as normal. There was no comparison group involved. The study had 72 participants in total. Patients were only required to stay for one month and so the number of patients being tested lessened in the second and third months. The patients were tested on a monthly basis after using CBD daily. Their sleep and anxiety levels were measured. The first month’s testing found that 57 out of 72 patients experienced lessened anxiety. In comparison, 48 out of 72 individuals experienced better sleep. The prospects of CBD working to help with sleep and anxiety disorders looked good. Testing during the second month found that 32 out of 41 patients experienced lessened anxiety. 23 out of 41 individuals showed improved sleep. The study didn’t list the numbers of the third month. However, the results of the study showed that anxiety tended to decrease due to CBD. It also tended to stay decreased throughout the months of use. On the other hand, sleep was sometimes helped by CBD. However, CBD did not always affect sleep. The majority of patients in this study did not experience any adverse side effects from using CBD. In total, 3 patients experienced adverse effects from using CBD.
Does CBD Help with Anxiety?
According to the research, CBD does seem to have a helpful effect on anxiety. However, there are few clinical and randomized studies available on the subject. Further research would be needed in order to determine the full effects of CBD on anxiety. Some individuals may not react well to using CBD as an additional treatment for anxiety. But the majority of individuals should react well to CBD based on these studies. The main adverse symptom of using CBD was fatigue. A CBD testing lab or hospital looking into the effects of CBD could be beneficial.
Studies That Demonstrate CBD’S Effects on Schizophrenia
In 2018, a study was created by the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center. The study took a sample of 85 patients. The patients were all taking medication and stable at the time of the study. The study found that the individuals were not performing mental activities- such as problem solving and learning- better. However, researchers found that the working memory of the participants improved due to the usage of CBD. The individuals were able to perform short tasks easier.
Another study was done to look at the effects of CBD on stable schizophrenic patients who were currently being treated. The study lasted 6 weeks and had 36 participants. Half of the participants were given 600 mg of CBD and the other half were given a placebo. The results showed that there wasn’t much difference between the placebo group and the group that was given CBD. The CBD was well tolerated though. The individuals who took CBD had no adverse effects.
Does CBD Help with Schizophrenia?
The studies have mixed results. In general, CBD does not do much for schizophrenia. There is the possibility that CBD does help with short term memory in schizophrenic patients. However, CBD is not a full treatment for schizophrenia and shouldn’t be treated as such. Individuals using CBD will still need to be medicated for their schizophrenia. A CBD testing lab or hospital could look into further CBD’s impact on schizophrenia.
Studies That Demonstrate CBD’s Effects on Neuropathic Pain
13 studies concerning the effect of CBD on chronic neuropathic pain were evaluated. Looking at the studies as a whole, it was apparent that CBD may provide pain relief for people with neurological conditions. This is true even for those individuals whose conditions don’t respond well to other forms of pain management. More research is needed in order to determine how CBD affects users in the long term and what method of delivery would best work for pain relief.
11 studies were looked at to determine the effects of CBD on chronic neuropathic pain. The studies contained a total of 1219 individuals. As whole, the studies showed that the individuals that took CBD for pain relief experienced slight pain relief. This is in comparison to the individuals who did not take CBD. The studies also revealed that there was an improvement in the quality of life and sleep of the individuals who took CBD. There were no individuals that experienced any major adverse effects.
Does CBD Help with Neuropathic Pain?
It seems that CBD does have the potential to help with neuropathic pain. There needs to be more randomized and controlled studies in order to be sure. However, CBD seems to have no major adverse effects. This makes CBD a great resource for people with neuropathic pain that can’t be controlled using normal medications
